Why Vote Yes
A vote YES is a vote to protect student success now and in the future!
They’ve Made Real Progress — But Our Schools Are at a Crossroads
Marshall Public Schools are seeing meaningful, measurable success:
- Early reading scores are rising
- More students are thriving in middle school, math and science
- Career and technical programs are expanding
- Behavioral incidents and chronic absenteeism are going down
- Students are excelling not just in the classroom, but in athletics, the arts, and leadership
This progress reflects years of hard work by students, staff, and families. But without stable, local funding, we risk losing the momentum we’ve worked so hard to build.
Financial Reality
Despite the efforts, our schools face an urgent budget crisis:
- State funding has not kept up with inflation for over 20 years
- Adjusted for inflation, the state contributes 19% less per student than in 2005
- In 2024–2025, MPS cut $350,000 and still had to deficit spend $1.1 million
- For 2025–2026, MPS is projected to face a $1.8 million shortfall
Even with careful budgeting, cuts, and use of reserve funds, the financial gap will continue to grow—doubling in just four years and will exhaust emergency reserves within three.
What Happens if the Levy Fails?
Without the operating levy, Marshall Public Schools will be forced to make deep cuts that affect students and staff directly. Learn more at www.tomorrowstigers.org .
