For Chris and Alicia Webb, Marshall Public Schools have been woven into their family story from the very beginning. With three children currently enrolled, their journey with the district started years ago—well before their kids even entered a classroom.
Their first connection came through the Birth to 3 Help Me Grow program, where the family found incredible support from Emily Hoffman and Kat Deutz. “The care and guidance they provided laid a strong foundation of education and advocacy that was especially meaningful to us as a family with special needs,” Alicia shared.
That foundation only grew stronger as their oldest attended the school-run Marshall Area Childcare Center (MACC). The program, led by dedicated educators like Carol Moorse, gave their daughter a wonderful first preschool experience. “We were so grateful for how well-run the program was and for how much she learned there,” Chris reflected.
As their children have continued through Marshall Schools, the Webbs have seen firsthand how the district meets students where they are, particularly through individualized education programs. Teachers like Emily Hoffman have had a lasting impact on their family. “She has now taught two of our children,” Alicia said. “She is not only a gifted teacher but also a tremendous source of support for families. We cannot say enough about the impact she has had on our lives.”
One especially meaningful memory comes from their daughter’s kindergarten year with Mrs. (Majusiak) Olson. The Webbs recall how she transformed school into a place their daughter looked forward to every single day. “What stood out wasn’t just how she taught reading, writing, and math—it was how she cared for her students as whole people,” Alicia explained. Their daughter even came home talking about affirmations she learned in class—practices that helped her grow in confidence both at school and at home.
For the Webb family, Marshall Schools have been more than just a place of learning; they have been a true partner in their children’s growth. “We are so grateful for the opportunities, care, and support our children have received here,” Chris and Alicia said.
Their story is a testament to the strength of Marshall Schools and the lasting impact of teachers, staff, and programs that go above and beyond for students and families every day.
