Understanding the Levy Impact
A Smart, Sustainable Solution for Our Schools
In November 2025, Marshall Public Schools is asking voters to approve a 10-year operating levy to provide stable, local funding for students, staff, and programs. This is not about building new schools—it’s about protecting the people and programs that make quality education possible.
What the Levy Supports
When you Say Yes, you support:
- Academic and student support services
- Teachers and classroom staffing
- Career and technical education programs
- Supplies, materials, and technology
- Utilities, cleaning, and groundskeeping
This levy is strictly for day-to-day school operations—the teachers, programs, and services that directly impact students.
What happens if the referendum is rejected? If voters reject the referendum, the district will be forced to make ongoing cuts to the budget year after year, limiting important resources for our students and staff.
These cuts would result in:
- Staff reductions
- Larger class sizes
- Fewer electives and specialized programs
- Fewer specialists to assist students who require extra academic support
Who Pays the Levy?
The proposed levy applies to all residential and commercial property owners within the Marshall Public School District. The tax impact is based on property value—so a $200,000 home and a $200,000 business would see the same increase. Learn more at www.tomorrowstigers.org.
Applies to:
- Residential homesteads
- Commercial & industrial properties
- Agricultural homesteads + 1 acre (up to $500,000 in value)
Does not apply to:
- Agricultural land
- Seasonal/recreational property

What’s the Cost?
We know every dollar matters. For the average homeowner (with a $200,000 home), the levy would cost about $23/month—roughly the price of one cup of coffee per week.
